Margee’s torch: an invitation to freedom

October 14, 2026 · Community Update 06

Dear friends,

What would it mean to loosen the hold this world has on your heart and make room for Jesus?

Trying to preserve Rising Phoenix brought me to Margee’s story. Her Christian faith took practical shape in hospitality, service, and welcoming people who needed a new beginning. It also led me to a message I want to share: the freedom we can find in Christ, and the room we can make for Him in our lives.

I still hope the retreat she created can be preserved. Whatever happens to the property, we can carry her torch forward through the way we love and care for one another.

My new message, Make Room for Jesus, is now on the website. You can read it or listen to my own recording, either in full or one section at a time.

Visit RisingPhoenixLegacy.org and click the torch Margee is holding.

Helping the message cross language barriers

The website now includes more translated text and audio, including German and Russian. Use the language selector beneath the phoenix logo to choose from the available languages.

Please allow each newly opened screen up to a minute to translate. My hope is that language will become less of a barrier to sharing this invitation.

The search for a buyer continues

We have expanded outreach to Christian real estate and ministry-property contacts, asking for introductions to a capable buyer or acquiring organization. A recent response also brought eight professional referrals, and follow-up inquiries have been sent.

Our request is for help finding someone able to acquire and sustain the retreat. I have no ownership or financial stake in the sale and do not represent Loyola or the auction company.

Loyola University Maryland owns the property and has said it will receive a preservation proposal directly for consideration. UCCR—United Camps, Conferences & Retreats—has also outlined a possible feasibility study and operating-support path for a suitable future owner. No purchase, funding, or management agreement has been secured.

The auction is scheduled to close October 27, subject to extension rules. If you know a person, church, or organization equipped to evaluate the opportunity, a personal introduction could help.

Sharing the message through Christian radio

Radio outreach continues, and I am exploring paid advertising to invite listeners to Make Room for Jesus. No advertising spots have been booked. The message I want to share is an invitation to find freedom in Christ and carry Christian love into everyday life.

One small step you can take

Listen to the message. If it speaks to you, share the website personally with someone who might welcome it. You can also share a memory of Margee or introduce someone who could consider the retreat’s future.

Thank you for helping her story—and the welcome she offered—continue to reach others.

With gratitude and hope,
Adam
